Reciprocity. Treating the gifts of the Earth with an equal level of care. This book creates a different position on climate wellness around the obligation of returning gifts.

This books weaves the history of Native American culture surrounding wildlife, particularly around plants, into the trajectory of modern lives. It sort of reads like a long poem (which I was not expecting and could be why it did not resonate super strongly with me).

I think it could be better to read when paying more attention. The author carefully weaves between present life, historical tales, and imagined occasions as she understands her relationship with the natural world.
